Christina began practicing Yoga over 19 years ago. She found yoga in a VHS bookstore while searching for a new workout video. She stumbled over a Bryan Kest power yoga video and thought, this might be fun! Back then yoga mats were not that easy to find and she didn’t know one existed. From the first time she played the video, she was instantly hooked. She had no yoga mat and she would practice with bare feet on hardwood floors. She had the fans on top speed. The practice was very difficult and exhilarating at the same time. She felt anger come up and felt peace and happiness. She had never felt so amazing and open in her life, let alone this stuff was HARD!! She fell in love with yoga instantly!! She couldn’t figure out how to stop slipping and this was the biggest problem. Then a light bulb went off in her mind “carpet liners” these were a life saver! She would practice every morning, sometimes twice a day. She started to notice how she didn’t want to stay up late and go drinking alcohol, her eating habits started to change. She wanted to eat healthy so she could enjoy feeling light as she practiced yoga. Her life became a lot more calm, balanced and peaceful. She noticed her breathing started to change, she was mimicking the yoga breathing from the video.
Her life felt happier and her body felt strong and open. She became a certified Power vinyasa yoga teacher in 6/07 with Dolly Stavros (Red Stone Yoga). Since then she has trained and become certified by Bryan Kest (Power Yoga), Grace Morales (Ashtanga Yoga) Michael Gannon (Ashtanga yoga), Yoga One (Power Vinyasa yoga) Baron Baptiste (Bootcamp, Level 1& Level 2 teacher training. She has also completed 10 day Vipassana. A practice of 10 days of complete silence and meditation taught by S.N. Goenka. Vipassana is a way of self-transformation through self-observation. It focuses on the deep interconnection between mind and body, which can be experienced directly by disciplined attention to the physical sensations that form the life of the body, and that continuously interconnect and condition the life of the mind. It is this observation-based, self-exploratory journey to the common root of mind and body that dissolves mental impurity, resulting in a balanced mind full of love and compassion. Practicing Yoga and meditation have changed her mind, body, and my life. She loves to teach and help others see how wonderful Yoga is. Yoga is not just about being flexible and having a great body, that’s the bonus. Everyone has their own unique body frame and body structure. Yoga to Christina is a way to transform your mind and body into balance. Yoga helps ease the mind and free your spirit.
